Abstract
This paper describes an educational microcode emulation system. The emulator allows a student to write microcode for a particular bit slice processor, and then to observe the effects of the code. An assignment is set in which the student must implement a small minicomputer. The emulator ten determines whether a solution is correct, and gives an index to its efficiency. The emulator differs from others in its external representation of the processor architecture and machine state.
