Abstract
This paper descrives the development of a C complier for MONADS-PC, a capability-based workstation designed and implemented at Monash University. The MONADS architecture is briefly described and this is followed by a discussion of the problems associated with mapping C onto a capability-based environment. The implementation of the compiler using the Amsterdam Compiler Kit (ACK) is descrived and the paper concludes with a discussion of some of the problems encountered with ACK.
