Aerofoil Design

The aerofoil was modelled using the proprietory software FLUENT, with a mesh generated by GAMBIT, generating the ratio of lift to drag. Parameters varied were the aerofoil thickness, camber and angle of attack. The optimization algorithms used were downhill simplex and a BFGS, both built in to Nimrod/O. This was shown to be quicker to setup than use of a tailored code and it produced superior results.
